On February 26, 2026, the city of Venice, Florida proudly marked a century of excellence with a special celebration at the iconic San Marco Building (formerly the Kentucky Military Institute – KMI) on Tampa Avenue West.
GBack Media was honored to be part of this milestone event, helping bring the community together in recognition of the building’s rich legacy and its ongoing role in shaping Venice’s identity.
Paul Kaldy, founder of GBack Media and known locally as The Shellback, shared his thoughts:
“It was a huge honor to be part of such a great celebration. The tradition and history of the KMI building should be celebrated and shared with the entire community.”
The Shellback, performing as DJ Daba Do, provided the soundtrack for the evening. Starting with Roaring ’20s classics and moving through timeless oldies and dance tunes, he kept the energy high and the atmosphere perfectly aligned with the historic occasion.
The San Marco Building, with its long and storied history as the former home of the Kentucky Military Institute, continues to evolve and thrive—much like Venice itself, the charming city on the Gulf.
From its military roots to its place in today’s vibrant community, the KMI building stands as a symbol of resilience, heritage, and progress. GBack Media is proud to have contributed to the celebration of this 100-year legacy.
Venice, Florida — where history meets the future, one celebration at a time. 🌴🎶
